The new musical “Switched” will present a private industry reading on May 3. Christopher J. Hanke will produce the musical which features a book by Tony Award nominee Geoffrey Nauftts and a score by Jonatha Brooke. Nadia DiGiallonardo will serve as music director.
The company of “Switched” will feature Erich Bergen, Heidi Blickenstaff, Aisha De Haas, Kate Jennings Grant, Ashley D. Kelley, Julia Knitel, Jo Lampert, Tony Award nominee Beth Malone, Brandi Porter, Tony nominee Douglas Sills, Jason Tam, Quinn VanAntwerp and Kuhoo Verma.
A 2010 Tony nominee for penning the play “Next Fall,” Nauftts has performed on the Main Stem in 1989’s “A Few Good Men” and in the 2006 revival of “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.”
Brooke’s solo musical “My Mother Has 4 Noses” played an Off-Broadway run at the Duke on 42nd Street in 2014. Her music has seen multiple album releases, including several on her own label, Bad Dog Records.
As a performer, Hanke has originated roles on Broadway in “In My Life,” “Cry- Baby” and a revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” in addition to replacing in “Rent.”
“Switched” chronicles two strangers who, upon meeting on the eve of their 40th birthdays, discover a shocking secret and connection from their past.
“Switched” is being produced by Hanke in association with Naked Angels, which was a lead produer on Nauftts’ “Next Fall.”
