The world premiere of “Ali” has been canceled. The new musical was scheduled to bow at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago on April 22, 2025.

As previously reported, the musical tells the story of the life and legacy of heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.

The show’s Instagram account posted a cancellation notice on Nov. 1, credited to producer Richard Willis. “Due to scheduling conflicts in key departments on our team, ‘Ali’ will not be able to premiere in the Broadway in Chicago 2024-2025 season, as scheduled. We could not be more grateful to everyone at Broadway in Chicago and the Nederlander Organization. While we won’t premiere ‘Ali’ in the coming year, we look forward to celebrating Ali’s life in the great city of Chicago where Ali called the South Side home.”
