“Moulin Rouge!” is coming to Broadway next season with the cast from its Boston tryout.

The musical, produced by Carmen Pavlovic, chief executive of Global Creatures and lead producer of “King Kong,” will play the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Previews begin June 28, 2019, with an opening night set for July 25.

Alex Timbers, who is also the director of the upcoming Broadway musical “Beetlejuice,” directs “Moulin Rouge!,” which features a book by John Logan, a Tony Award-winner for “Red,” choreography by Sonya Tayeh and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levin.

The cast is led by Karen Olivo as Satine, Aaron Tveit as Christian and Danny Burstein as Harold Zidler. Sahr Ngaujah plays Toulouse-Lautrec, Tam Mutu plays the Duke of Monroth, Ricky Rojas plays Santiago and Robyn Hurder plays Nini.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Moulin Rouge! The Musical to Broadway,” Pavlovic said in the press release. “We are especially delighted that the show is going to the Hirschfeld – the perfect theater for this production with its lavish architecture and rich history of landmark Broadway shows.”

As of April 2018, the producers of “Moulin Rouge!” were seeking a capitalization of up $28 million for the musical, according to forms filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The musical will take over the Hirschfield Theatre after “Kinky Boots” completes its six-year run there in April 2019.

Based on the 2001 Twentieth Century Fox movie, “Moulin Rouge!” had its world premiere at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre this past summer. It features some of the hit songs from the movie, with the addition of more recent popular music.

The ensemble and swings include Jacqueline Arnold, Olutayo Bosede, Kyle Brown, Sam Cahn, Max Clayton, Yurel Echezarreta, Jennifer Florentino, Paloma Garcia-Lee, Bahiyah Hibah, Ericka Hunter, Holly James, Reed Luplau, Jeigh Madjus, Morgan Marcell, Brandt Martinez, Jodi McFadden, Kevyn Morrow, Fred Odgaard, Dylan Paul, Khori Michelle Petinaud and Benjamin Rivera.

The “Moulin Rouge!’ design team includes set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Justin Townsend and sound designer Peter Hylenski, with wig and hair design by David Brian Brown and makeup design by Sarah Cimino.
