For the third year in a row, the Broadway musical “MJ” will celebrate Halloween with a special post-show performance of the song “Thriller.” The performance will feature the choreography made famous in the song’s 1982 music video as well custom costumes, lighting and projections. The performance will occur following curtain call of the 7:30 p.m. ET performance at the Neil Simon Theatre on Oct. 31. Theatergoers are encouraged to wear costumes.

While this Halloween celebration has become an annual event for “MJ” on the Main Stem, for the first time all three global productions of the Michael Jackson tuner will offer the “Thriller” encore. The national tour of “MJ” will do the same following the 7:30 p.m. GMT performance at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit, as will the West End production’s 7:30 p.m. BST performance at London’s Prince Edward’s Theatre.

Featuring a Tony Award-nominated book by Lynn Nottage set to a slew of tunes made popular by Michael Jackson, “MJ” chronicles Jackson’s career leading up to his 1992 “Dangerous” tour. Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs the bio musical, which also features signature Jackson moves from choreographers Rich and Tone Talauega. “MJ” opened on Feb. 1, 2022, and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, winning four, including one for Wheeldon’s choreography.

“MJ” is produced by Lia Vollack, John Branca and John McClain.
