Marisa Tomei will return to Broadway in “The Rose Tattoo” this fall.
The Tennessee Williams play, produced by Roundabout Theatre Company, will be directed by Trip Cullman, who directed Tomei in the play at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in June 2016.
“The Rose Tattoo” begins previews at the American Airlines Theatre on Sept. 19, 2019, with an opening night set for Oct. 15, 2019. The play is a limited engagement, running through Dec. 8, 2019.
The remaining cast members and design team will be announced at a later date.
Tomei, an Academy Award winner for “My Cousin Vinny,” has previous Broadway credits including “The Realistic Joneses,” “Top Girls,” and “Marie and Bruce.”
Cullman returns to Broadway after directing this season’s “Choir Boy.”
In “The Rose Tatoo,” Tomei will play Serafina, a widow who rekindles her desire for love, lust and life in the arms of a fiery suitor.
The play, which originally opened on Broadway in 1951, has had two previous revivals, in 1966 and in 1995.
