Tony Award-winning producer Mara Isaacs has announced a new venture. Isaacs, the founder of Octopus Theatricals, has revealed the creation of Octoverse Media. A multimedia platform, Octoverse Media will encompass and integrate the worlds of theater, music and film, allowing artists to seamlessly navigate each medium.
Octoverse Media plans to undertake a variety of projects, including concept albums, Broadway cast albums and live captures of theatrical mountings. Specific projects and upcoming releases will be announced. Ian Blackaby will serve as the company’s project manager of music releases.
“In the entertainment industry, the various genres tend to live in separate and isolated ecosystems,” Isaacs said in a statement. “As a producer and builder of worlds, I’m interested in bringing people together. The artists we work with refuse to limit their vision to any one sector, and Octoverse Media will be there to support them regardless of genre.”
Isaacs won a Tony as lead producer of the long-running “Hadestown,” in addition to taking home trophies for “The Inheritance” and “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” the latter of which originated at McCarter Theater Center in Princeton, New Jersey, during her former tenure as the venue’s producing director. As founder of Octopus Theatricals, Isaacs co-founded Producer Hub, a nonprofit dedicated to providing fiscal sponsorship to independent producers and artists.
As a consultant of Sing It Again Records, Blackaby co-managed the release of “Hadestown”’s Grammy Award-winning Broadway cast album, as well as the musical’s West End album, which was recorded live during a performance.
