Lincoln Center Theater will stage a Broadway revival of Thornton Wilder’s “The Skin of Our Teeth” this spring.
The revival of the 1943 production will be directed by Lincoln Center Resident Director Lileana Blain-Cruz, whose credits include “Fefu and Her Friends” and “Pipeline,” in her Broadway debut. The play is scheduled to begin previews at the Vivian Beaumont Theater March 31 and open April 25.
“The Skin of Our Teeth” follows a New Jersey family as they survive the Ice Age, a flood and war. The play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and appeared on Broadway in 1942, 1955 and 1975.
“‘The Skin of Our Teeth’ is a play for right now,” Blain-Cruz said in the press release. “It’s a title that has been in my consciousness for a long time and while searching for the perfect play with which to make my Beaumont debut I re-read it.”
Casting for the play will be announced at a later date.
The new musical “Flying Over Sunset” will play the Vivian Beaumont Theatre ahead of this production, with a first preview Nov. 11 and an opening night date Dec. 13. The limited engagement is scheduled to play its last performance Feb. 6.
“The Skin of Our Teeth” will feature sets by Adam Rigg, costumes by Montana Levi Blanco, lighting by Yi Zhao, sound by Palmer Hefferan and projections by Hannah Wasileski.
