“Lempicka,” a new musical about the life of artist Tamara de Lempicka, will play the La Jolla Playhouse this spring.

The musical, which premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2018, is directed by Rachel Chavkin, who recently won a Tony Award for her direction of “Hadestown,” with a book and lyrics by Carson Kreitzer and music by Matt Gould.

After La Jolla, the plan is to come to Broadway in the 2020-2021 season, according to producers Greg Nobile and Jana Shea of Seaview Productions and Jenny Niederhoffer.

The creative team includes choreographer Raja Feather Kelly, scenic designer Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Bradley King and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.

Casting for the La Jolla run has not yet been announced. Eden Espinosa and Carmen Cusack starred in the premiere at Williamstown.
