LaTeshia Ellerson and Emilya Cachapero named co-executive directors of Theatre Communications Group

The organization recently created a new leadership structure.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the promotion of two longtime staff members who will now lead the organization. LaTeshia Ellerson was named co-executive director, national engagement; and Emilya Cachapero was named co-executive director, national and global programming.

The national organization’s new executive structure places three directors at its helm. An additional position, co-executive director, national operations and business development, has yet to be filled.

Ellerson joined TCG in 2021 as director of institutional philanthropy, and has served as interim chief growth officer since January. Cachapero has served as the organization’s director of grantmaking programs since 1991.

“I am honored to step into the role of co-executive director, national engagement, during this pivotal time of restructuring for TCG,” Ellerson said in a statement. “I look forward to working alongside my co-executive directors to deepen our relationships in the field and help stabilize and steer the organization toward long-term success.”

“We are entering into a new era of TCG’s programming, building on the success of our past and reimagining the possibilities for our field’s future,” Cachapero added. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this process in my new role as co-executive director, national and global programming.”

Karena Fiorenza, who served as TCG’s interim chief executive officer, helped develop the unique leadership structure.

“It has been my pleasure to lead and support TCG through my agency Ánimo Consulting, during this past year of transitions,” said Fiorenza. “Nothing gives me greater joy than knowing LaTeshia and Emilya will be at the helm of TCG. They are two of the most brilliant, thoughtful and strategic humans in our ecosystem. I am incredibly honored for the opportunity to help architect a new leadership and organizational structure that I believe will be transformative for TCG and the people and industry we serve.”

Along with its board, TCG will partner with Creative Evolutions to fill the third leadership position.
