A production of “Last Summer at Bluefish Cove,” backed by Ellen DeGenres, Portia De Rossi, Lily Tomlin and more, is aiming for Broadway in 2020.
Cynthia Nixon is tapped to direct the Jane Chambers play, which originally premiered Off-Broadway in 1980, but has never appeared on Broadway. Harriet Newman Leve and Jane Wagner, Tomlin’s wife, are also announced to produce.
Casting, creative team and a production timeline will be announced at a later date. The production has said it will feature an all-female creative team and cast.
Set in a lesbian beachside community, the play centers on a group of friends whose lives are upturned when a straight woman wanders into the town.
