Kristin Caskey, who is the executive vice president of content and creative at Ambassador Theatre Group, has been named the next chairperson of the Broadway League. Caskey will take over for current chair Lauren Reid, who is president of John Gore Organization.
Caskey, who has been chair elect of the League since December of 2022, will begin her official three-year term following the League’s end-of-year annual meeting.
As current chair, Reid’s achievements have included guiding the reopening of Broadway shows following the shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Reid lobbied for returning shows and venue operators to receive aid from the government via the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program.
Caskey’s decades of experience includes booking and creating shows for Fox Theatricals and Ambassador. She will be expected to continue Reid’s work on helping the theater industry’s post-pandemic recovery efforts.
This past season, the average Broadway audience was around one-fifth less capacity than before the shutdown. Around 2.5 million former theatergoers initially were not attending Broadway shows.
