New 42, a performing arts nonprofit dedicated to arts accessibility, has announced the appointment of Kristen Barrett to the position of vice president of development. Barrett will be in charge of the organization’s development activities and fundraising efforts.
Prior to joining New 42, Barrett held a 12-year tenure with the School of American Ballet (SAB), serving as director of development. During her time with SAB, Barrett spearheaded a $22 million endowment campaign. Across her two decades of nonprofit experience, Barrett held previous development director positions at Children’s Home Society of Florida and Broward Housing Solutions.
“We are elated to add Kristen to our leadership team,” said Russell Granet, president and CEO of New 42, in a statement. “Her extensive experience is matched by her genuine passion for the performing arts, and I look forward to working closely with her and the development team as we enter a landmark anniversary year for the organization in 2025.”
“I have seen firsthand the benefits of arts exposure and education through my previous roles and personal experience in developing my own child’s interest in the arts,” added Barrett. “I am inspired by New 42’s work to ensure that young people of all backgrounds have access to the performing arts, and I am thrilled to join the organization and lead fundraising efforts that positively impact the lives of children and families in my community.”
Established in 1990, New 42’s New Victory Theatre is dedicated to developing young audience members, while the organization’s New 42 Studios is a frequent provider of rehearsal and studio space for Broadway and Broadway-aimed productions.
