The original Broadway company of “Kimberly Akimbo” is set to release a cast album on Ghostlight Records.
An official release date for the recording is yet to be announced, though it is available to pre-save on streaming platforms. A music video for the song “Better,” featuring cast member Bonnie Milligan, is now available to watch on YouTube.
The new musical, which opens on Nov. 10 at the Booth Theatre, features a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and a score by Jeanine Tesori with direction by Jessica Stone and choreography by Danny Mefford. It premiered off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company last season. “Kimberly Akimbo” is based on Lindsay-Abaire’s play from 2000 about a teenager who is 16 but looks like a 72-year-old woman due to a genetic disease.
In addition to Milligan, the album cast includes Tony Award winner Victoria Clark as Kimberly, Justin Cooley, Steven Boyer, Alli Mauzey, Olivia Elease Hardy, Fernell Hogan, Michael Iskander and Nina White.
The creative team includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound designer Kai Harada, projection designer Lucy Mackinnon and wig, hair and make-up designer by J. Jared Janas. The Production Stage Manager is Arabella Powell and casting is by Craig Burns at The Telsey Office.
“Kimberly Akimbo” is produced by David Stone, Atlantic Theater Company, James L. Nederlander, LaChanze, John Gore, Patrick Catullo and Aaron Glick.
