Keri Russell will star alongside Adam Driver in the revival of “Burn This” on Broadway this spring.
The revival of the Lanford Wilson play will be directed by Michael Mayer and produced by David Binder. It begins performances in March 2019 at a yet-to-be named Broadway theater.
This production will be first Broadway revival of the play, which premiered Off-Broadway in 1987, with stars John Malkovich and Joan Allen. It transferred to Broadway that same year.
A previous version of “Burn This,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Mayer, had been announced to play the Hudson Theatre in March 2017. However, that production was postponed, with producers Stacey Mindich and Jessica R. Jenen citing scheduling conflicts on behalf of Gyllenhaal. He then starred in “Sunday in the Park with George,” marking the first show to open at the refurbished Hudson Theatre in February 2017.
The play centers on four New Yorkers in the 1980s, with a focus on the relationship between Pale, played by Driver, and Anna, played by Russell, that develops after a tragic event.
This will be Russell’s Broadway debut, and she comes to the role after finishing six seasons of television show “The Americans.” She made her stage debut in the Off-Broadway production of “Fat Pig” in 2004.
