The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts unveiled the recipients of the 47th Kennedy Center Honors, celebrating their lifetime achievements in the arts. This year’s honorees include renowned director and filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, iconic rock band the Grateful Dead (Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bobby Weir), blues rock legend Bonnie Raitt, jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and the historic Apollo Theater.
The annual gala, scheduled for December 8, 2024, at the Kennedy Center Opera House, promises a star-studded event honoring these influential figures. The ceremony, known for its cultural significance, will feature performances and tributes by leading artists from around the world.
CBS will broadcast the 47th Kennedy Center Honors on December 23, continuing a longstanding tradition of bringing this prestigious event to audiences nationwide. Paramount+ subscribers will have access to stream the ceremony live.
Established in 1978, the Kennedy Center Honors recognize individuals who have profoundly shaped American culture through their contributions to music, dance, theater, opera, motion pictures, or television. The selection process, overseen by the Kennedy Center’s Special Honors Advisory Committee, involves input from distinguished artists and former honorees.
Done+Dusted will serve as executive producers of the Honors.
