The Broadway musical “Hell’s Kitchen” will welcome Kelsee Kimmel as the standby for the role of Jersey. Her first performance date has not yet been set. Kimmel will succeed original standby Donna Vivino, who will conclude her standby duties on Dec. 1 and temporarily play the role of Jersey from Dec. 3 - 11, after which she will depart the production at the Shubert Theatre.
Kimmel previously served as the alternate for the roles of Catherine of Aragon, Jane Seymour and Catherine Parr on the Broadway production of ”SIX” and on both of its national tours. Kimmel played Jane Seymour in the Toronto mounting of “SIX” and has also appeared in tours of “Pretty Woman,” “Kinky Boots” and “Rent.”
The current principal company of “Hell’s Kitchen” includes Maleah Joi Moon as Ali, Kecia Lewis as Miss Liza Jane, Brandon Victor Dixon as Davis, Phillip Johnson Richardson as Knuck and Shoshana Bean as Jersey, who, as previously announced, will play her final performance in the role on Dec. 1. Jessica Vosk will take over as Jersey beginning Dec. 12.
Featuring a Tony Award-nominated book by Kristoffer Diaz and a score of preexisting and original songs by Alicia Keys, “Hell’s Kitchen” tells the story of Ali (Moon), a rebellious New York City teenager. While trying to assert her independence from her mother, Ali discovers her piano-playing prowess.
Directed by Michael Greif and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, “Hell’s Kitchen” opened on April 20. The production received 13 Tony nominations, taking home wins for Moon and Lewis. The musical’s original cast recording is currently nominated for the 2025 Best Musical Theater Album Grammy Award. Members of the company will perform on the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
