Further principal casting is set for the Audra McDonald-led revival of “Gypsy.” Newly announced co-stars are Joy Woods as Louise and Jordan Tyson as June, with Lesli Margherita as Tessie Tura, Lili Thomas as Miss Mazeppa and Mylinda Hull as Miss Electra. As previously announced, “Gypsy” will begin previews on Nov. 21 and open on Dec. 19 at Broadway’s Majestic Theatre. George C. Wolfe will direct and Camille A. Brown will choreograph.

Woods and Tyson are currently featured in “The Notebook” as Middle and Younger Allie, respectively. Woods made her Broadway debut replacing as Catherine Parr in “SIX” and also played Audrey in the Off-Broadway revival of “Little Shop of Horrors.” Tyson was seen as Kizette in the pre-Broadway mounting of “Lempicka” at La Jolla Playhouse.

Margherita won an Olivier Award for her featured turn in the West End staging of “Zorro.” She made her Broadway debut in “Matilda” and also appeared in “Dames at Sea.”

Thomas made her Broadway debut in “Chicago” as Matron “Mama” Morton. She previously played Cynthia Murphy on the national tour of “Dear Evan Hansen.”

A Broadway veteran of over two decades, Hull made her Rialto debut as Annie in the 2001 revival of “42nd Street.” Her additional credits include “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “Sweet Charity,” “The Nance” and “Mr. Saturday Night.”

The newly announced cast members join the previously reported Danny Burstein, who will play Herbie. Additional casting, by Jordan Thaler and Heidi Griffiths, is to come.

Featuring a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, “Gypsy” is suggested by the memoirs of popular burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee. Set in the 1920s and 1930s, the musical follows Rose and her desperation to make her two children, June and Louise, stars of the vaudeville circuit. Louise, however, finds herself in the world of burlesque.

“Gypsy” is being produced by Tom Kirdahy, Mara Isaacs, Kevin Ryan, Diane Scott Carter, Peter May and Thomas M. Neff.
