The Broadway musical “Real Women Have Curves” will offer a special pop-up concert. Joy Huerta, the musical’s co-composer, will perform acoustic songs from both the new musical’s score as well as tunes from her music career as half of the pop duo Jesse & Joy. The event will take place on March 18 at 9:45 a.m. in front of the James Earl Jones Theatre. The acoustic performance will coincide with a special ticket offer.

Featuring a score by Huerta and Benjamin Velez and a book by Lisa Loomer with Nell Benjamin, “Real Women Have Curves” is based on a play by Josefina López and the television movie of the same name. Set in 1987, the musical follows Ana, who, following high school graduation, is expected to remain in her hometown of Los Angeles and work in a garment factory alongside her mother, Carmen, to help support their family. Ana, however, dreams of starting anew in New York City.

As previously announced, “Real Women Have Curves” will begin previews on April 1 and open on April 27 at the Jones. Sergio Trujillo will direct and choreograph the musical, which will feature music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo and music direction by Roberto Sinha. Tatianna Córdoba and Justina Machado will star as Ana and Carmen Garcia, respectively.

“Real Women Have Curves” is being produced by Barry Weissler, Fran Weissler and Jack Noseworthy, with Peggy Koenig, Stan Ponte, Las Mujeres Garza, John Gore Organization (the parent company of Broadway News), Ira Pittelman, Stacie and Steven Weisbrot, Michael Valdes, Michael P.
