Beginning March 14, Broadway’s production of Tom Stoppard’s “Leopoldstadt” will welcome new cast members. Joshua Malina, best known for television’s “The West Wing,” will take over the role of Hermann. He will replace original cast member David Krumholtz.
Malina last appeared on Broadway in the 1989 drama “A Few Good Men” (penned by future “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin). “A Few Good Men” marked Malina’s Broadway debut.
Joining Malina in “Leopoldstadt” will be new cast members Dave Register as Fritz, replacing Arty Froushan, and Cody Braverman as Young Leo, succeeding Wesley Holloway in the shared role.
Froushan originated the dual roles of Fritz/Leo. Current company member Jesse Aaronson will take over the part of Leo — replacing Froushan — in addition to his present role as Aaron.
Also newly announced is that current understudy Charlotte Graham will assume the role of Nellie, replacing Tedra Millan. Sarah Killough, also an understudy, will play the part of Eva full-time, replacing Caissie Levy. Ali Rose Dachis will join the company as an understudy.
Froushan, Krumholtz, Levy and Millan will play their final performance on March 12. All other company members will remain with the show.
The current cast of “Leopoldstadt” features Betsy Aidem, Jenna Augen, Japhet Balaban, Corey Brill, Daniel Cantor, Faye Castelow, Erica Dasher, Eden Epstein, Gina Ferrall, Matt Harrington, Jacqueline Jarrold, Colleen Litchfield, Aaron Neil, Seth Numrich, Anthony Rosenthal, Christopher James Stevens, Sara Topham, Brandon Uranowitz, Dylan S. Wallach as well as Reese Bogin, Max Ryan Burach, Remy Cohen, Calvin James Davis, Michael Deaner, Romy Fay, Pearl Scarlett Gold, Ava Michele Hyl, Joshua Satine, Aaron Shuf and Drew Squire.
Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Maureen Kelleher.
Directed by Patrick Marber, “Leopoldstadt” was originally on sale through Feb. 12, but previously announced an extension through July 2.
“Leopoldstadt” is produced on Broadway by Sonia Friedman Productions, Roy Furman and Lorne Michaels.
