“The Notebook” has announced a final performance date for original principals John Cardoza and Jordan Tyson. Cardoza and Tyson will take their final bows as Younger Noah and Younger Allie, respectively, on Oct. 6 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Both performers also originated their roles in “The Notebook”’s world-premiere production at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in 2022.  Replacements for the two have not yet been announced.

The news comes on the heels of the musical’s closing announcement; the Michael Greif- and Schele Williams-directed production will play its final performance on Dec. 15.

Cardoza made his Main Stem debut in 2019’s “Jagged Little Pill.” Following his exit from “The Notebook,” he will step into the role of Christian in Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge!” in October, reprising a role he played on national tour.

“The Notebook” marked the Broadway debut of Tyson, who previously played Kizette in the pre-Broadway mounting of “Lempicka” at La Jolla Playhouse and appeared Off-Broadway in “Sweetee” with Signature Theatre. She played a recurring character on the Netflix series “The Chair.”

In addition to Cardoza and Tyson, the current principal company of “The Notebook” includes Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie, Dorian Harewood as Older Noah, Joy Woods as Middle Allie and Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah. Casting is by the Telsey Office/Patrick Goodwin.

Featuring a score by Ingrid Michaelson and a Tony Award-nominated book by Bekah Brunstetter based on Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 novel, “The Notebook” chronicles the love story between Noah and Allie as seen through three generations of their lives. The production opened on March 14 and received three 2024 Tony Award nominations. The musical will embark on a national tour in 2025.

“The Notebook” is produced by Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch.
