The Broadway League Foundation has revealed a date for the 2025 Jimmy Awards. Formally known as the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, the 16th annual Jimmys will take place on June 23, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre. The awards recognize achievement in high school-level theater.
Regional awards programs, based out of performing arts centers across the country, will select two performers from local high school performances. These winners will come to New York City in June for a 10-day-long intensive of training sessions, rehearsals and coaching. The program culminates in the Jimmy Awards ceremony, featuring solo and ensemble performances, where two students will be named Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress.
110 students are expected to participate in the 2025 Jimmys, up from 102 in 2024.
Founded in 2009 by Nederlander Alliances LLC, Pittsburgh CLO and Broadway Education Alliance (BEA), the Jimmys has not only raised awareness of the value of educational theater, but has quickly become a pipeline for Broadway talent. Many former Jimmy participants have landed roles on Broadway and national tours: Kyle Selig and Anna Zavelson recently joined “Water for Elephants” and “The Notebook,” respectively, and two-time Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada opened in “The Great Gatsby.” Jack Cahill-Lemme and Adam J. Levy are current swings in “Moulin Rouge!,” while KC Dela Cruz is a swing in “Hadestown.”
“The Jimmy Awards not only have an immense impact on the lives of the nominees, but also on the theater community at large,” said Jason Laks, interim president of the League, in a statement. “To date, over 70 program alumni have gone on to perform in Broadway and touring Broadway shows — not to mention landing roles in both television and film. The talent that this program produces and nurtures is tremendous, and we at the Broadway League look forward to celebrating that talent during another memorable ceremony.”
The Jimmy Awards is a program of the Broadway League, the national trade association for the Broadway theater industry. The Jimmys are presented by the Broadway League Foundation, the League’s philanthropic division. Rachel Reiner, the League’s longtime director of audience engagement, serves as executive director of the awards.
