The Shubert Organization, which owns and operates 17 of Broadway’s 41 theaters, has announced the appointment of Jeff T. Daniel as its president. Daniel will step into the position immediately.
Daniel has been with the Shubert Organization since September 2023, when he joined as chief strategy officer. Daniel previously served as co-chief executive officer of Broadway Across America (BAA), part of the John Gore Organization (the parent organization of Broadway News), where he worked for 14 years. Earlier in his career, Daniel negotiated the sale of Theater Management Group to the publicly traded Clear Channel Entertainment, and served as COO, entertainment properties.
“Jeff’s background, both at Shubert and prior to joining our company make him extremely well suited for this role,” said Shubert chair and CEO Robert E. Wankel in a statement. “For the past two years at Shubert, Jeff has been working on strategic initiatives as he familiarizes himself with our company. And importantly, Jeff was a driving force in securing government funding for Broadway’s post-pandemic revitalization. Having him by my side will ensure Shubert’s strength and legacy for years to come. We congratulate him on this well-deserved appointment.”
“I’m honored to serve this American institution, and I am committed to the continued success and stability of both Shubert and the greater theater industry,” Daniel said. “Shubert holds a special place in my heart, as it does for millions of theatergoers, and I am proud to work alongside Bob, with Shubert’s talented leadership team and our impressive colleagues throughout the company.”
In addition to Wankel as board chair, Shubert’s board of directors comprises Laura Forese, Wyche Fowler Jr., Pamela Newkirk, Diana Phillips, Richard J. Poccia, Lee J. Seidler and Stuart Subotnick.
