Manhattan Theater Club is bringing the play “Ink” to Broadway as part of its 2018-2019 season.

“Ink,” written by James Graham and directed by Rupert Goold, the artistic director of the Almeida Theatre, comes to the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre after a West End run that ended this January. The play will begin previews April 2, 2019, with an opening night on April 24, 2019.

This will be the American premiere of play, which is presented by the Almeida Theatre and Sonia Friedman Productions in addition to the Manhattan Theatre Club.

Inspired by real events, the play takes place in 1969 London, where Rupert Murdoch has just purchased The Sun, with the intent of turning it into a must-read paper. He recruits a rogue editor and a team of ragtag reporters to help him in his quest.

The play’s cast and creative team have not yet been announced.
