Long-running musicals “The Book of Mormon” and “Hadestown” saw strong increases last week as much of Broadway’s box office continued to dip. “Book of Mormon” grossed $966,954, up 7%, and played to 98% capacity, an increase of 2%. Meanwhile, “Hadestown” earned $745,689, up 7%, and played to 100% capacity, an increase of 4%.
For the week ending Feb. 12, the 21 productions on Broadway grossed $23,064,393, a decrease of 2%. Capacity was at 95%, up 2%.
The three top-grossing shows were “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Funny Girl” and “Hamilton.” Eleven productions grossed more than $1 million.
Fifteen shows played to 95% capacity or greater, while only one production played to less than 80%.
In its final week, “The Collaboration” grossed $253,568, down 11%. The production played to 81% capacity, down 7%.
“Chicago” continued its strong month with Jinkx Monsoon playing Matron “Mama” Morton. The musical grossed $797,240, a 6% increase, and played to 101% capacity, up 3%.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” saw a stronger week at the box office. The play earned $1,282,511, up 10%, and performed to audiences at 95% capacity, up 5%.
“Some Like It Hot” also saw a significant box office increase. The new musical grossed $828,380, up 12%, and played to 81%, an increase of 11%.
“Pictures From Home” officially opened on Feb. 9. “The Collaboration” closed on Feb. 11. Broadway Week began on Jan. 17 and concluded on Feb. 12.
