“Illinoise,” the new musical featuring Tony Award-winning choreography by Justin Peck, has announced the addition of three matinée performances to its strictly limited engagement at the St. James Theatre. Due to popular demand, the production will now offer Wednesday matinées on July 10, July 17 and July 24, in addition to its regular schedule.

The musical officially opened on April 24 at the St. James Theatre and is scheduled to finish its limited engagement run on Aug. 10.

“Illinoise,” which recently garnered Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Choreography and the Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Broadway Show, transferred to Broadway following successful, sold-out runs at the Park Avenue Armory and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

The musical, adapted from Sufjan Stevens’ beloved cult classic album “Illinois,” explores themes of self-exploration and community through a blend of folk, indie rock, marching band and electronic music, performed live onstage.

Directed and choreographed by Peck and with a book by Peck and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury, “Illinoise” features a cast that includes Ben Cook, Gaby Diaz, Ahmad Simmons, Ricky Ubeda, Elijah Lyons, Tasha Viets-VanLear, Yesenia Ayala, Kara Chan, Jeanette Delgado, Carlos Falú, Christine Flores, Jada German, Zach Gonder, Manny Houston, Rachel Lockhart, Brandt Martinez, Dario Natarelli, Tanner Porter, Tyrone Reese, Craig Salstein, Becca Stevens, Byron Tittle and Alejandro Vargas.

“Illinoise” earned four 2024 Tony nominations. It is produced on Broadway by Orin Wolf, Seaview, John Styles and David Binder.
