A set of 2024 Tony Award nominees (and one winner) are bonded by a unique circumstance. Tony nominees Bekah Brunstetter, Kristoffer Diaz and Amy Herzog as well as Tony winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins are all alumni of the Ars Nova Play Group.

The Play Group is the nonprofit’s residency program for early-career playwrights. During the two-year-long program, playwrights meet biweekly to share new work and receive feedback from their peers. Each writer eventually focuses on one piece to develop through a weeklong workshop, culminating in a public reading.
