The 67th annual Grammy Awards kicked off in Los Angeles on Feb. 2. The official telecast began at 8 p.m. ET, but 84 of the 94 awards were handed out during the earlier premiere ceremony, including the trophy for Best Musical Theater Album, which went to “Hell’s Kitchen” for its original Broadway cast recording.

The honor recognized the album’s producers Adam Blackstone, Alicia Keys and Tom Kitt as well as principal vocalists Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Kecia Lewis and Maleah Joi Moon (the latter two of whom won Tony Awards for their performances in the Broadway production). Blackstone and Dixon accepted the award from the Peacock Theater stage. “Thank you to all the open minds and the DEI programs that allowed me — a little kid from church — to live out my dreams on Broadway,” Blackstone said during his speech. Dixon added, “The darkness is loud but the light is brighter.”
