“Harmony” has set a final performance date of Feb. 4. The new musical opened on Nov. 13, 2023 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, following previews that began on Oct. 18. At the time of closing, the production will have played 24 previews and 96 regular performances.
The musical tells the story of the Comedian Harmonists, a group of six close harmony singers, who were a musical sensation of pre-Nazi Germany. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, the musical features music by Barry Manilow and lyrics and book by Bruce Sussman.
The cast of “Harmony” is led by Chip Zien as Rabbi, as well as Sean Bell, Danny Kornfeld, Zal Owen, Eric Peters, Blake Roman and Steven Telsey as the six harmonists. Sierra Boggess and Julie Benko are featured as two of the harmonists’ wives.
Rounding out the company are Zak Edwards, Bruce Landry, RhonniRose Mantilla, Daniel Z. Miller, Benjamin H. Moore, Andrew O’Shanick, Constantine Pappas, Kayleen Seidl Allison Semmes, Bronwyn Tarboton, Kate Wesler, Stuart Zagnit, Lee Zarrett, Dan Hoy, Matthew Mucha and Kyle Stone. Casting is by Jamibeth Margolis.
The creative team of “Harmony” includes scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designers Linda Cho and Ricky Lurie, lighting designers Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, sound designer Dan Moses Schreier, media designer and hair and wig designer Tom Watson. The production also featured media design by batwin + robin productions, orchestrations by Doug Walter and production stage management by Scott Taylor Robinson.
