Four Broadway shows will perform virtually in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“Hamilton,” “Mean Girls,” “Jagged Little Pill” and “Ain’t Too Proud” will be performing as part of the parade’s broadcast, NBC confirmed Wednesday.
As first reported by the New York Times, the performances will be filmed in the weeks leading up to Nov. 26 and then air with the rest of the parade performances on NBC Thanksgiving Day. NBC is paying for the performances, according to the Times.
The parade itself has been modified for the pandemic and will not feature any spectators, with performances staged for television-broadcast. Other parade participants, who must be local residents, will be performing in the Herald Square area and will not walk the traditional 2.5-mile route.
Balloons will each be driven by five speciality vehicles, rather than flown by the typical 80-100 handlers.
