“Hadestown” is releasing a special cast album. Dubbed “Talking Hadestown,” the record will feature excerpts from the cast album of the 2019 Best Musical Tony Award winner, accompanied by the musical’s creator Anaïs Mitchell explaining her inspirations, concepts and creative processes associated with each song.

The album’s initial four tracks, from Warner Music Group’s Arts Music and Sing It Again Records, is now available digitally. Additional tracks will be released piecemeal, culminating with the full digital release on Nov. 1, which will coincide with the fifth anniversary of the release of the “Hadestown” original cast album, which won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

A modern retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, “Hadestown” opened on April 17, 2019 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. The production was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

“Talking Hadestown” is produced by Ian Blackaby and Mitchell. Mara Isaacs, who produces the Broadway production, serves as executive producer for the album.
