The cast of “Hadestown” will not greet fans at the stage door for the next 30 days, the production said Saturday.
The measure was put in place as a “precautionary” measure to help protect against the spread of coronavirus. On Friday, the Broadway League said it was increasing the cleaning and sanitation of all Broadway theaters and also advised sick patrons to stay home.
“In light of current global events and following recommendations from the Broadway League, HADESTOWN has elected to follow common sense health practices as a precautionary measure for the next 30 days. These measures are being implemented for the health and wellbeing of everyone at the theater. We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the fans of HADESTOWN for understanding that there will be no cast at the stage door during this period and look forward to resuming normal stage door activities when we are able,” the production said in a statement.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo declared a state of emergency for New York Saturday, as the number of confirmed cases in the state rose to 76. The state of emergency allows for expedited purchasing of cleaning and testing supplies, expedited procurement of lab space and allows more qualified professionals to conduct testing, among other measures.
