‘Gypsy’ on Broadway cancels March 13 performance

The cancellation was due to an illness in the cast.

The March 13 evening performance of “Gypsy” was canceled. The production’s official Instagram account shared the news in the hours leading up to curtain time.

“Due to illnesses within the company, tonight’s performance is cancelled,” the post reads. “We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check with your point of purchase to exchange or refund your tickets.”

Audra McDonald heads the company of the new revival, which began previews on Nov. 21, 2024, and officially opened on Dec. 19 at the Majestic Theatre. The principal cast also includes Danny Burstein, Joy Woods, Jordan Tyson, Kevin Csolak, Lili Thomas, Lesli Margherita and Mylinda Hull.

Suggested by the memoirs of famed burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee, “Gypsy” features a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. This revival has direction by George C. Wolfe, choreography by Camille A. Brown and music direction by Andy Einhorn.

“Gypsy” is produced by Tom Kirdahy, Mara Isaacs, Kevin Ryan and Diane Scott Carter.
