Final principal casting has been announced for the upcoming Broadway premiere of the new musical comedy “Shucked.” Previews are set to begin March 8 with an opening night scheduled for April 4 at the Nederlander Theatre.
Grey Henson will join the previously announced Ashley D. Kelley as the show’s two Storytellers. (Taylor Trensch played the role in the production’s three-week out-of-town run at Utah’s Pioneer Theatre Company.) Henson’s previous Broadway credits include “The Book of Mormon” and originating the role of Damian Hubbard in “Mean Girls,” for which he received a Tony Award nomination.
They join a company that includes John Behlmann, Kevin Cahoon, Andrew Durand, Caroline Innerbichler and Alex Newell.
Set in the South, the story follows a couple — and the characters they meet along the way — as they put their wedding on hold to save their small town.
The musical features a book by Robert Horn, a score by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally and direction by Jack O’Brien.
