The upcoming Broadway musical “Just in Time” has announced two additional principal players. Gracie Lawence will play real-life performer Connie Francis, and Emily Bergl will portray Nina/Mary. The previously announced musical, which chronicles the life of singer Bobby Darin, will begin previews on March 28 and open on April 23 at Circle in the Square Theatre.

Also newly revealed is the musical’s creative team, which will include a full slate of Tony Award-winning designers: scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Justin Townsend and sound designer Peter Hylenski.

“Just in Time” will mark the Broadway musical debut of Lawrence, who appeared in the 2009 revival of “Brighton Beach Memoirs.” Lawrence is known for her portrayal of Kacey Breaker on the MAX series “Sex Lives of College Girls.” She is also the co-founder, along with her sibling Clyde, of the soul-pop band Lawrence.

Bergl most recently appeared on the Main Stem in 2023’s “Good Night, Oscar,” earning a Drama Desk Award nomination for her featured turn as June Levant. Bergl’s other Broadway credits include “The Ferryman” as well as revivals of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “A Touch of the Poet,” “The Rivals” and “The Lion in Winter.”

The newly announced duo will appear alongside the previously reported Jonathan Groff as Darin, in addition to Michele Pawk, Joe Barbara, Christine Cornish, John Treacy Egan, Julia Grondin, Tari Kelly, Matt Magnusson, Khori Michelle Petinaud, Larkin Reilly, Lance Roberts, Caesar Samayoa and Valeria Yamin. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Jason Thinger. Additional casting is still to be announced.

Developed and directed by Alex Timbers and based on an original concept by Ted Chapin, “Just in Time” will feature a book by Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver set to songs made popular by Darin. Andrew Resnick will provide music supervision and arrangements, while Shannon Lewis will choreograph.

“Just in Time” is being produced by Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and John Frost.
