The Broadway premiere of “Real Women Have Curves” has revealed additional casting. As previously announced, Sergio Trujillo will direct and choreograph the new musical, set to begin previews on April 1 and open on April 27 at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

Newly announced company members include Florencia Cuenca as Estela, Shelby Acosta as Prima Flaca, Carla Jimenez as Pancha, Aline Mayagoitia as Itzel, Mason Reeves as Henry, Jennifer Sánchez as Rosalí and Sandra Valls as Prima Fulvia, as well as Shadia Fairuz, Elisa Galindez, Quincy Hampton, Omar Madden, Zeus Mendoza, Claudia Mulet, Christopher M. Ramirez and Monica Tulia Ramirez.

“Real Women” will mark the Broadway debut of Cuenca, Jimenez, Reeves and Valls, all of whom played their respective roles in the musical’s 2023 world premiere at American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Acosta and Sánchez, who will also reprise their roles from the A.R.T. mounting, recently appeared on Broadway in “1776” and “Elf,” respectively. Featuring a score by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez and a book by Lisa Loomer with Nell Benjamin, “Real Women Have Curves” is based on a play by Josefina López and the television movie of the same name. Set in 1987, the musical follows Ana (Córdoba), who, following high school graduation, is expected to remain in her hometown of Los Angeles and work in a garment factory alongside her mother (Machado) to help support their family. Ana, however, dreams of starting anew in New York City.
