“Funny Girl” now maintains the all-time box office record at the August Wilson Theatre after the revival grossed $2,005,696.80 last week. The production broke the previous record of $1,994,386 that was set by “Mean Girls” in 2018.
For the week ending Dec. 18, the 34 shows on Broadway grossed $37,287,623, up 0.19%. Capacity dipped 1% to 86%.
“The Music Man,” “The Lion King” and “Hamilton” were the three top-grossing productions. Sixteen shows broke the $1 million mark, and of those, six earned at least $2 million. Twelve shows played to 95% capacity or greater, while five played to 70% or lower.
As the campaign to save “Ain’t No Mo’ ” continues, the new play had its best week by far. The production grossed $499,303, up a staggering 203% from the previous week. Capacity was at 93%, up 98%. Originally scheduled to close on Dec. 18, the production will now play through Dec. 23.
Meanwhile, “Almost Famous” grossed $703,714, down 8%, and played to just 68% capacity, also down 8%. The new musical announced on Dec. 19 that it will play its final performance on Jan. 8.
On the heels of its highest-grossing week yet, “Kimberly Akimbo” earned $502,745, down 12%, and played to 79% capacity, down 8%.
“Leopoldstadt,” which recently announced an extension through July, also slipped last week. The new play grossed $895,594, down 17%, and played to 74% capacity, down 9%.
“Between Riverside and Crazy” and “The Collaboration” remained in previews.
