“Fat Ham” is set to make its New York debut at the Public Theater on May 12 with an official opening night scheduled for May 26. It is a co-production with National Black Theatre and will run through June 12. “Fat Ham” had its world premiere as a digital production for the Wilma Theater in 2021.

The play is a reimagining of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” centered around a young Black man and set at a family barbecue in the South.

“Selling Kabul” was produced at Playwrights Horizons in November 2021. “Kristina Wong, Sweatshop Overlord” ran at New York Theatre Workshop in October 2021.

Last year’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama went to “The Hot Wing King” by Katori Hall. Finalists included “Circle Jerk” by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley as well as “Stew” by Zora Howard.
