The Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) production of “Eureka Day” will play for an additional two weeks. The Anna D. Shapiro-helmed play will now run through Feb. 2, 2025. The announcement comes on the heels of its Dec. 16 opening night at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The Jonathan Spector comedy, which began previews on Nov. 25, was originally scheduled to play a limited engagement through Jan. 19.

In the California-set “Eureka Day,” an outbreak of mumps forces a private elementary school to challenge its own liberal vaccination policy. The cast includes Eboni Flowers, Amber Gray, Jessica Hecht, Bill Irwin, Thomas Middleditch and Chelsea Yakura-Kurtz.

The production’s announcement marks the fourth straight-play opening in the 2024-2025 season to extend. Max Wolf Friedlich’s “Job,” Jez Butterworth’s “The Hills of California” (produced in association with MTC) and the revival of “Romeo + Juliet” all received extensions, while Cole Escola’s “Oh, Mary!” has extended three times.

“Eureka Day” is produced by MTC, under the leadership of artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive director Chris Jennings, by special arrangement with Sonia Friedman Productions, Wagner Johnson Productions and Seaview.
