Casting is complete for the upcoming Broadway bow of the Bobby Darin bio-musical “Just in Time.” Erika Henningsen will play Sandra Dee, the real-life performer and first wife of Darin. Alex Timbers is at the helm of the previously announced production, which will begin previews on March 28 and open on April 23 at Circle in the Square Theatre.
Henningsen made her Broadway debut as Fantine in the 2014 revival of “Les Misérables” and originated the role of Cady Heron in 2018’s “Mean Girls.” On television, Henningsen is known for her roles on “Hazbin Hotel,” “Girls5Eva” and “Harlem,” as well as the upcoming Netflix series “The Four Seasons.”
Henningsen will appear opposite the previously reported Jonathan Groff as Darin. The duo will be joined by Emily Bergl, Gracie Lawrence, Michele Pawk, Joe Barbara, Christine Cornish, John Treacy Egan, Julia Grondin, Tari Kelly, Matt Magnusson, Khori Michelle Petinaud, Larkin Reilly, Lance Roberts, Caesar Samayoa and Valeria Yamin. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Jason Thinger.
Developed by Timbers and based on an original concept by Ted Chapin, “Just in Time” features a book by Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver set to songs made popular by Darin.
“Just in Time” is being produced by Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and John Frost.
