The Drama League has replaced this year’s awards luncheon, originally slated for May 15, with a digital fundraiser entitled the Gratitude Awards, the organization announced Thursday.
The Drama League Awards, which recognize achievement on Broadway and Off-Broadway, were meant to include an awards luncheon at the Marriott Marquis and an April 16 nominations event at Sardi’s. Both events were cancelled due to coronavirus and will be rescheduled “at an appropriate time,” according to a press release.
In the meantime, the Drama League will host a digital fundraiser that will recognize workers in various theatrical jobs including directors, performers and administrators. Proceeds will support stage directors affected by the theater shutdowns.
The dates for the Gratitude Awards nominations and fundraiser are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
