Darko Tresnjak is taking over as director of “This Ain’t No Disco,” which will have its world premiere at the Atlantic Theater Company this summer.

Tresnjak, artistic director of the Hartford Stage Company until June 2019, takes over the role from Trip Cullman, who is currently directing “Lobby Hero” and became “unavailable due to scheduling conflicts.”

The new musical is written by Stephen Trask, who wrote “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” and Peter Yanowitz, a founding member of the band “The Wallflowers,” who collaborated with Rick Elice on the book.

Performances begin June 29, 2018 at the Linda Gross Theater, with an opening night to be announced.

Workshop version of the show were presented at the Powerhouse Theater in the summer of 2015 and the summer of 2017.

The musical takes place in 1979 New York and follows “drifters and dreamers” as they visit Studio 54 and Mudd Club.
