Concord Theatricals has announced the acquisition of the exclusive, global licensing rights to “Jagged Little Pill.”

The jukebox musical opened at the Broadhurst Theatre on Dec. 5, 2019, and was nominated for 15 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The “Jagged Little Pill” score consists of songs by Alanis Morissette, as well as tunes co-written by Morissette and Glen Ballard, which first appeared on the 1995 Grammy Award-winning album of the musical’s title. “Jagged Little Pill” features a Tony Award-winning book by Diablo Cody and orchestrations and arrangements by Tom Kitt.

“We are excited that Concord Theatricals is taking ‘Jagged Little Pill’ to so many stages!” said Ballard, who is personally represented by Concord Music Publishing, in a statement. “We are passionate about the messages and music in this show and it’s gratifying to have it brought to an even larger audience. It’s wonderful to widen the circle of this show and Concord knows how to do it!”

“We’re delighted to continue our cherished long-term relationship with Glen, Tom Kitt and this extraordinary title,” said Concord chief theatricals executive Sean Patrick Flahaven. “As early co-producing partners, we knew ‘Jagged’ would resonate with audiences worldwide and it is an honor to welcome Alanis and Diablo to Concord Theatricals’ catalog.”

“Jagged Little Pill” follows the Healy family, who seem to be the picture-perfect suburban ideal. But as Mary Jane, the matriarch, struggles with her past, her children grapple with their identities in the present.

“Jagged Little Pill” was produced on Broadway by Vivek J. Tiwary, Arvind Ethan David and Eva Price.
