“Oh, Mary!,” a new comedy by downtown cabaret favorite Cole Escola, will transfer to Broadway this summer. Previews will begin on June 26 ahead of an opening night of July 11 at the Lyceum Theatre. The play will continue for a 12-week limited engagement through Sept. 15. The Broadway run will be produced by Kevin McCollum, Lucas McMahon, Mike Lavoie and Carlee Briglia.
“Oh, Mary!” stars Escola as Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Tony Award nominee Sam Pinkleton (“Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812”) will repeat his work as director of the comedy, which is currently playing Off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre.
The full Off-Broadway company will reprise their performances on Broadway. That includes Conrad Ricamora as Mary’s husband, James Scully as Mary’s teacher, Bianca Leigh as Mary’s chaperone and Tony Macht as Mary’s husband’s assistant, in addition to Hannah Solow and Peter Smith. Casting is by Henry Russell Bergstein.
The creative team for the Broadway production will include dots (scenic design), Holly Pierson (costume design), Cha See (lighting design), Daniel Kluger (sound design and original music), Drew Levy (sound design), Leah J. Loukas (wig design), Addison Heeren (props supervision) and David Dabbon (musical arrangements). Original gowns for Escola are by Astor Yang. Bryan Bauer is production stage manager and Ryan Patrick Kane is assistant stage manager.
The Off-Broadway run of “Oh, Mary!” began previews on Jan. 26 and officially opened on Feb. 8. It will continue through May 12.
