“Oh, Mary!” is officially a Broadway hit. The new comedy by Cole Escola has recouped its $4,525,000 investment, producers Kevin McCollum, Lucas McMahon, Mike Lavoie and Carlee Briglia announced on Nov. 25. “Oh, Mary!” is the first show of the current Broadway season to report making back its production costs. Additionally, for the week ending Nov. 24, the show broke the Lyceum Theatre house record for the tenth time, grossing $1,225,937.

Directed by Sam Pinkleton, “Oh, Mary” envisions First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln as a frustrated former cabaret star whose husband is wrestling with deep-held secrets. Playwright Escola stars as Mary Todd Lincoln alongside Conrad Ricamora as Mary’s Husband, James Scully as Mary’s Teacher, Bianca Leigh as Mary’s Chaperone and Tony Macht as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, with Peter Smith, Hannah Solow and Martin Landry completing the company. Casting is by Henry Russell Bergstein, CSA.

“Oh, Mary!” began previews on June 26 and opened on July 11 at the Lyceum, where it continues to play. Initially scheduled as a limited engagement through Sept. 15, the production has been twice extended and is currently slated to run through Jan. 19, 2025.
