Chelsea Yakura-Kurtz will make her Broadway debut in Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC)’s production of “Eureka Day.” Yakura-Kurtz will play the role of Meiko, replacing the previously announced Zoë Chao, who has withdrawn from the production due to a scheduling conflict. The previously announced play by Jonathan Spector will begin previews on Nov. 25 and open on Dec. 16 at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The Jonathan Sspector comedy is scheduled to run for a limited engagement through Jan. 19, 2025.

Yakura-Kurtz’s West Coast résumé includes appearances in “Uncle Vanya” at Pasadena Playhouse and “How the Light Gets In” at Boston Court Pasadena. Her television credits include “Swarm,” “The Resident,” “Scandal” and “The Flash.”

Yakura-Kurtz will join a cast that includes Amber Gray, Jessica Hecht, Bill Irwin and Thomas Middleditch.

In the California-set “Eureka Day,” an outbreak of mumps forces a private elementary school to challenge its own liberal vaccination policy.

“Eureka Day” is being produced by MTC, under the leadership of artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive director Chris Jennings, by special arrangement with Sonia Friedman Productions, Wagner Johnson Productions and Seaview.
