Casting finalized for Broadway bow of ‘Maybe Happy Ending’

The new musical has also released several songs from Will Aronson and Hue Park’s score.

“Maybe Happy Ending” has revealed complete casting. The previously announced Michael Arden-helmed musical will begin previews on Oct. 16 ahead of a Nov. 12 opening night at the Belasco Theatre. 

Steven Huynh, Hannah Kevitt, Daniel May and Christopher James Tamayo complete the cast as company understudies.

“Maybe Happy Ending” will mark the second Broadway credit for Kevitt and May. Kevitt appeared in “Back to the Future,” and May made his Main Stem debut in the revival of “Flower Drum Song.”

Huynh and Tamayo will both make their Broadway debuts in “Maybe Happy Ending.” Huynh appeared in both the Chicago and New York productions of “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas,” while Tamayo recently completed two years on the national tour of “Les Misérables.”

They will join the previously announced Darren Criss as Oliver, Helen J. Shen as Claire, Dez Duron as Gil Brentley and Marcus Choi as James and others. Casting is by Telsey & Co./Craig Burns.

Additionally, the production has released five songs from the musical’s score, which features music by Will Aronson and Lyrics by Hue Park. Aronsson and Park also collaborated on the book.

Set outside Seoul, South Korea, “Maybe Happy Ending” chronicles the connection between two obsolete robots.
