Broadway’s box office saw a dip in gross but an increase in attendance in the week that followed Presidents Day weekend. For the week ending Feb. 25, the 24 currently running productions earned $26,049,492, down 3.3% from the previous week. Attendance, however, increased 1.9%, hitting 205,020 Main Stem admissions. Capacity across all theaters remained high at 93.52%, down a scant 0.6% from the week prior.

Based on a ten-year average, the week after Presidents Day weekend typically exhibits a drop in gross but an increase in attendance. While this was indeed the case for week 40 of the 2023-2024 season, the percent decrease of gross (-3.3%) was lower than the ten-year average of -1.5%. Attendance went up 1.9%, which is lower than the average 2.7% seen during this time period.
