Broadway’s recent “Romeo + Juliet” revival is officially a hit. The new staging of William Shakespeare’s classic, directed by Sam Gold and produced by Seaview, made back its $7 million dollar capitalization during its 20-week limited engagement, which concluded on Feb. 16 at the Circle in the Square Theatre.
Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler headlined the new production, which began previews on Sept. 26, 2024, and officially opened on Oct. 24. Over the course of its run, the “Romeo + Juliet” revival broke the Circle in the Square’s single-performance gross record three times and became the highest-grossing limited engagement in the venue’s history.
Jack Antonoff penned original music and Sonya Tayeh provided choreography for the production, which also starred Gabby Beans, Daniel Bravo Hernández, Jasai Chase-Owens, Tommy Dorfman, Nihar Duvvuri, Sola Fadiran, Missy Malek, Taheen Modak, Timothy Oh, Gían Pérez, Susannah Perkins and Daniel Velez. Casting for the revival was by Taylor Williams, CSA.
