Broadway’s box office softens as summer winds down

For the week ending Aug. 25, the 24 currently running productions grossed $25,343,599.

Broadway’s box office lessened during week 14 of the 2024-2025 season. The 24 currently running productions earned a collective $25,343,599 during the week ending Aug. 28, a 9.9% drop from the week prior, when one additional show was playing. The dip in attendance was less pronounced, with 211,342 admissions counted, a drop of 6.2% from the week ending Aug. 18. Capacity was down a slight 1.2 percentage points, as available seats in theaters were filled to 90.6% capacity. 

Gross and attendance were also down compared to the same week during the 2023-2024 season, however the drop was much less significant. This week’s $25.3 million ducats represents a decrease of 6.9% from the week ending Aug. 27, 2023, when one extra show was playing. The 211,000 admissions is down a mere 1.4%, and capacity was up 4.7 percentage points.
