Producers Hal Luftig, Craig Haffner, and Sherry Wright have announced that the new musical “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” will make its Broadway debut in 2025, following a successful run at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.

Adapted from John Berendt’s best-selling 1994 non-fiction book of the same name, the musical features a book by Tony Award-nominated playwright and Pulitzer Prize finalist Taylor Mac, with music and lyrics by Tony-winning composer-lyricist Jason Robert Brown. Tony-nominated director Rob Ashford will helm the production, and Tanya Birl-Torres will choreograph.

Set in Savannah, Georgia, “Midnight in the Garden” centers around the murder trial of antiques dealer Jim Williams, leading to revelations that challenge the notions of good and evil within the community.

The creative team will include Tony- and Olivier Award-winning scenic designer Christopher Oram, Tony-nominated costume designer Toni-Leslie James, lighting designers Neil Austin and Jamie Platt and sound designer Jon Weston.

A theater and production dates are forthcoming.

Bespoke Theatricals will serve as general manager. Casting, which will be announced at a later date, is by the Telsey Office.
